Dora Nola

WELCOME TO DORA NOLA! Imagine a world where you feel free, limitless and wild. Where you give yourself permission to create, to have fun, to love and be loved. This is the world Manuela Jarry dreamed of when she created DORA NOLA.

About Dora Nola

Born and raised in the greater Montreal area, Manuela has always been drawn to beautiful objects and patterns.

After her Fine Arts studies at Champlain College and BFA at Concordia University, Manuela went on to work as a commercial artist designing artwork, textiles and home goods. It was during this phase that she honed her technical skills and acquired invaluable knowledge about the intricacies of product development, marking a significant turning point in her career.

Her profession took her around the world to work with clients and factories, where she learned the entire process of creating new product, from conceptualization to merchandising, as well as a deep understanding of the retail industry.

In 2020, Manuela began to feel the gradual erosion of her vibrant and imaginative artistic spirit due to her corporate career. Fueled by a burning desire to rekindle her creative flame, she created Dora Nola—a powerful outlet for her to express herself freely and authentically. Dora Nola embodies courage, vivid colours, and unapologetic individuality through art, scarves and other fashion accessories.

In 2023, she made the courageous decision to fully embrace her calling as an artist. Now, based in her home studio in La Prairie, Quebec, Manuela dedicates all her time and energy to Dora Nola and other creative projects.

Manuela's unique journey and unwavering commitment to her artistic vision make her an inspiring creative force.

About Dora Nola Silks

Silk scarves are an investment meant to be passed on from generation to generation, heirloom pieces to cherish and collect. Dora Nola scarves are crafted in 100% luxurious pure silk by artisans from the Silk City of Hangzhou in China, and each hem is carefully hand rolled by local residents. I have travelled extensively to China throughout my career and have grown fond of the culture, the people, and the craftsmanship. One of the first souvenirs I brought home from my travels many years ago was a tiny silk pyjama for my then newborn daughter, and the appreciation for this fine, luxurious fabric had begun. Chinese silk is bright, satiny, and allows for the most vibrant colours.

Silk twill is a natural fibre, strong and durable, but requires careful care in order to maintain in pristine condition and last for years.
